COPPER CANYON COCKERS

The American Cocker Spaniel evolved in the United States from spaniels
imported from Great Britain. The name cocker comes from the fact that the
breed originally hunted woodcock. In the United States the breed is registered
under the name "Cocker Spaniel", as is the English Cocker Spaniel in the UK,
which can cause confusion between these two breeds.

The Cocker Spaniel is the smallest member of the Sporting Group. He has a
sturdy compact body, and a cleanly chiseled and refined head, with the overall
dog in complete balance and ideal size. He stands well up at the shoulder on
straight forelegs with a topline sloping slightly,
toward strong, moderately bent muscular quarters. He is a dog capable of
considerable speed, combined with great endurance.

Height: Avg. Females 12-14 in. / Males 14-15 in.

Weight: Avg. Females 17-25 lbs. / Males 24 -27 lbs.

Coat: Short and fine length on head, and medium on body.

Temperament: Cocker Spaniels are active, friendly, Very loving.

With Children: If from good blood lines, they are exceptionally good with
children.

Special Skills: Sports dog and a great family pet.

Watch-dog: Make great watch dogs.

Care and Training: Grooming is essential and may require the help of a
professional.  Cockers easily adapt to any climate or living space. Cockers love
people. They make wonderful companions for the elderly, and equally love and
